Studio visit: Natalie Parker

Natalie Parker is an abstract artist based in Melbourne/Naarm.

Giving voice to her introversion, her expressive paintings explore the rawness of human emotion through gestural mark making, contrasting brushstrokes and colour. Formally trained with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Postgraduate Diploma of Secondary School Art Teaching, Natalie’s process begins with a colour palette and feeling in mind. With layers of colour and a push and pull conversation emerging, Natalie remains in the dance of the work until resolution and peace arise.

“My studio is based in my home which allows for a quick commute and instant gratification when the creative juices start flowing. I love the solitude of working, immersing myself in a pink, floral-obsessed space, and finding the gentleness within the space to simply be and express myself.”
