Designers Brief: Cheryl Richardson

Julia Green, founder and director of Geelong-based Greenhouse Interiors creates bespoke looks for these five works of art.

Cheryl Richardson; LAVENDER LAKE; 2022; Acrylic on canvas; 91 x 122cm. $3100. Courtesy: the artist.

I picture this beautiful painterly work by Cheryl Richardson above a relaxed bed layered in fresh French linens from Greenhouse Interiors in a black pinstripe, with a casual rattan bedhead from Love Tree Interiors. I imagine VJ panelled walls in a soft sage green, with the bed atop a vintage Afghan Kandahar rug high on texture and comfort underfoot. Add a handblown glass Due Bubble Wall Light sconce from Mark Douglass Design fixed to the panelling, with the textured boucle Reeno Bench from grazia&co. The result? A cleverly blended room of old and new, rustic and luxe, all underpinned by Richardson’s high octane LAVENDER LAKE.
