Ones to watch: Keiran Gordon

Outstanding artists to have on your radar right now. Charlotte Middleton writes.

Exploring a ‘mythology of colour’, Keiran Gordon’s works are vibrant, abstract compositions influenced by the constant sensory bombardment of modern life. Gordon received his BFA with a major in Sculpture from the National Art School, Sydney, and has been exhibiting in solo and group shows since 2014. The artist’s practice explores the relationship between intense, uncontainable feelings and nothingness, culminating in fleeting, beautiful connections between material and unconscious worlds. “They are pendants for your thoughts, projections, subjects and figurations, and they convey the lightness and joy of the act of creating.” Gordon was a finalist in the National Emerging Art Prize in 2021 and the 67th Blake Prize in 2022. With appetite for his work growing, the artist has exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair in both Sydney and Melbourne. His upcoming solo show, Floral Nihilism, runs from 2-14 November at Sketch Co. Gallery, Sydney.
