How would you describe your art?
I am a multidisciplinary abstract artist, with my main practices being painting and printmaking. I often refer to my work as subconscious abstract landscapes as they are a free expression of what is within, but draw great inspiration from nature and the world around me.
Where are you based?
I live in Gerringong on the South Coast of NSW. I love being surrounded by the beautiful green rolling hills and being close to the beach. I collect most of my materials for my printmaking on my morning walks in this beautiful little town.
What is your studio like?
My studio is nice and spacious and pretty much always messy in at least one area. I love the freedom it brings to my work, that I don’t need to be careful or hold back. I can be free and spontaneous and messy, it’s good for my creative process.
What have you been working on recently?
My most recent body of work Presence of Nature 2020 is a series of printmaking works responding to the devastating bushfires earlier in the year, here on the South Coast. A development from an earlier series, which celebrates nature and its healing aspects, this recent series describes nature’s incredible power of change (whether we like it or not) and the immense beauty of deterioration. Stories of light, beauty and hope are a reminder of the incredible natural forces we are surrounded by and despite the darkness, beauty everywhere.
