Ones to watch: Sarana Haeata

Outstanding artists to have on your radar right now. Charlotte Middleton writes.

From her studio in the remote Australian central desert of Alice Springs, Sarana Haeata explores the beauty and nuances held in shared stories, collective and individual identity, with a particular focus on the female experience. Heavily influenced by the joy and challenge of motherhood, her work across painting, digital media, ceramics and public art is often imbued with a sense of surrender and freedom. In the last 12 months, Haeata has been commissioned by The Gardener Museum in collaboration with The Boston Globe, and in 2022 her work was exhibited in New York and Miami. Striking a chord with audiences far and wide, her poignant and highly-sought-after work was also collected by Randi Zuckerberg, Reese Witherspoon and Paris Hilton last year. The artist will present a solo exhibition at Rainbow Studios, Sydney, in November 2023, before participating in the Saint Cloche Gallery end-of-year group show in December, also in Sydney.
