Based in Brisbane, artist Domenica Hoare works across the full spectrum of the paper medium, producing hand-made lithographs and etchings, detailed drawings in pencil and charcoal, illustrations, patterns, and watercolours. With arresting attention to detail, her work delicately depicts the interconnections and interdependencies between natural subjects and settings, human figures, and urban environments. Hoare graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art with Class One Honours from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, followed by a Master of Visual Art. Determined not to rest on her laurels however, she continues to undertake short courses in various media to broaden and deepen her knowledge, skills, and approach to art making. No stranger to the drawing and printmaking awards circuits, in 2018, Hoare was invited to participate in the Australian Print Triennial Emerging Artists exhibition. More recently, she was selected as a finalist in both The Rick Amor Drawing Award and the Splash McClelland Contemporary Watercolour Award in 2021. Working towards an exhibition in 2022, Hoare is one to keep on your radar.
