The variation of Lily Ivana Beardsell’s brushstrokes creates a balance between bold and delicate, adding additional detail to a scene that draws you in. The colours of the flora pop against the more muted dunes depicted in the distance. Gazing out across Beardsell’s Wednesday Dune is a calming experience, much like a good view of any coastline should be.

I love the depth of field in this work. Beardsell creates an unreal landscape yet you are drawn to what is beyond the flowers. I think of Vincent van Gogh’s Notte stellata, this is a lovely piece.
