Designer’s Brief: Yvonne Gallagher

Industry-leading interior designer Amelda Wilde has created a room to best display Yvonne Gallagher‘s artwork.

Leaning into this immersive view of a dynamic sailing vantage, I wanted to create a dining space enveloped in calming blues with moments of energy to reflect the movement captured in Yvonne Gallagher’s In the Wind. The various blue tones in the wallpaper creates depth and layering to the maritime artwork. A Von Steel duchess table anchors the space back to the primary function of dining, with playful curves reminiscent of ocean waves, but deeply decadent in rich burgundy tones. The Botolo fur chair is effortless in any space, however I particularly like it when paired with pieces that are both fun and classic. Layered lighting is a must in any space, and this Verpan wire floor lamp is delicate and subtle, yet a powerful piece with strong nautical features in its lighthouse form and with its curved, steel balustrades.
