Designers Brief: Marianne Urth

Julia Green, founder and director of Geelong-based Greenhouse Interiors creates bespoke looks for these five works of art.

Marianne Urth, Everybody loves blue, do you? 2022. Mixed media on canvas, 101 x 101cm. $1,800. Courtesy: the artist.

I love the movement in this oceanic work by Marianne Urth, and feel like it would sit well with curved pieces such as the oversized apple green Big Friendly Double couch by Dowel Jones. To allow the artwork to own its own hues, I would look to play on bold contrasting colours, bringing in the pink coloured glass ivy coffee table by grazia&co and the handmade ceramic heavily textured Butter Vase Mini in Red by Steph Woods. These vibrant colours really speak to the nature of choppy seas, and the need to be seen to survive. As a foil to the contemporary nature of these furniture items, a vintage Beni Moroccan rug in light blue from Loom Rugs would add luxury and texture to this brave room.
