Designer’s Brief: Jacqui Armstrong

We invite a designer to create a room to best display each of the five artworks we’ve selected. This issue, industry-leading interior designer Greg Natale takes up the challenge.

“This effervescent piece by Jacqui Armstrong would be best suited to a communal lounge space. The delicate palette the artist has chosen conjures up the soft grey-blue of an evening dusk sky, and I would want to reinforce this colour palette and imagery further. This contemporary Gaetano Pesce Armchair from B&B Italia in striped blue and white speaks to the whimsical swirls in the painting. My Vanilla Lune Candle is striped with similar colours to those used by Armstrong and also reinforces this celestial imagery, as does the Debbie Bowl in Black & Silver, the way it resembles a night sky dotted with sparkling stars. Finally, this Gino Sarfatti light fixture, with its multiple spherical bulbs, becomes the ideal anchor for the décor within this space.”
