Playing on the lustre and organic nature of the art of encaustics, Tricia Trinder has recreated the wonder of gazing into the horizon. This large-format piece would work beautifully in a grand entrance foyer where it becomes a destination that draws you towards it. To highlight the bold circular shape, I would keep the walls white. Add a hand loomed runner in natural wool tones with contemporary black track lighting. Add other artworks and scultpure for a gallery-like feel.

SUZANNE GORMAN

Studio Gorman Interior Design, Sydney

Tricia’s work is seductive and moody, intentionally drawing attention outward rather than inward. The dark horizon line creates depth and forms the perception of three dimensions. Blue Horizon is intriguing – offering a sense of peace and balance which is almost meditative. With its seductive, calming charm, this work would be a beautiful addition to a master bedroom, intriguing the occupants to ponder what is beyond the walls and potentially inspire their next travels.

Kathryn Robson

Robson Rak Architecture & Interiors, Melbourne

The skilled strokes by Tricia combine beeswax, resin and pigments, resulting in a marvellous view across a moonlit ocean through a port hole in my mind. The cool blues of the sea are calming, yet evoke a mysterious underlying sense of the unknown. This 1-metre diameter work would look incredible framed in an antique, ornate, gold leafed frame and I would hang it on a wall painted in a cool blue to reflect the colours of the ocean. Hang it in a dining room where it would be a conversation starter at many dinner parties.
