Best of Fine Art Drawing: Basil Eliades

THE INCREDIBLE FINE ART DRAWERS YOU NEED TO ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION.

Expressionist artist Basil Eliades demands a lot from his work. “For me the work has to have everything – ideas, technique, references, emotion. It needs something elusive, something sexy, something cerebral,” says the artist. He wants his work to get up and whack you in the head. Recently, Basil’s work has been more technical, based on old masters, “but with a techno-acid-cubist thing going on”. Through his artwork, Basil manages to convey sensuality, spirituality, intelligence and an awareness of the interconnectedness of everything – who knew a drawing could do so much?
