Emerging artist Sophie Corso produces thoughtful works from her Adelaide studio, her practice employing a wide variety of mediums to explore the way in which humans connect with each other and the world around them. Expressive and experimental mark- making is central to her methodology when she applies paint to canvas, and she channels this creative use of depth and space into her installation works. Corso has several successful years already under her belt, having hit the ground running after graduating from the University of South Australia in 2016 by winning the FELTspace Graduate Award, presenting a solo show with FELTspace, Adelaide, the following year. She is also a two-time finalist in the Prospect Portrait Prize, and a 2017 finalist in the Hornsby Art Prize and the SALA Festival’s UnitCare Services Moving Image Award. Most recently she has been a finalist in the 2023 Lester Prize, which will tour to the Collie Art Gallery later this year.
