The art practice of Noosa-based artist Louise Gregg is symbiotic with her lifestyle, the artist choosing to live off-grid in order to reduce her environmental impact. In her artmaking, this manifests itself in her use of upcycled and repurposed materials, removed from their context as waste and given new purpose as vectors of emotion and intuition. Working in textiles, sculpture, ceramics and installation, the artist embraces abstract forms which articulates line to great effect.
Gregg’s career thus far has seen her gain recognition at a number of prizes, including finalist and Highly Commended in the Milburn Art Prize Award in 2019, finalist in the Clayton Utz Art Award 2019, finalist in the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award 2022, finalist in the Du Rietz Art Award 2022 and 2023, and finalist for the Local Contemporary Art Prize 2024 at Caloundra Regional Gallery.
