Art Edit has selected Holly Field as an outstanding artist to have on your radar.
Following a twenty-year nursing career, emerging artist Holly Field began her creative journey in her mid-thirties. A self-taught ceramic artist, she initially sought to incorporate painting to diversify her ceramic designs. However, she soon uncovered a passion for capturing the essence of people and the interplay of light, primarily in oil paint. Observing people at their most vulnerable, Field is adept at detecting minute changes in emotion and expression, translating her subjects to the canvas with sensitivity and empathy. Progressing in leaps and bounds, so far in 2024 Field has exhibited as a finalist in the Brisbane Portrait Prize and its Salon des Refusés, as well as Brisbane’s Lethbridge Gallery Landscape and Small-Scale Award. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Queensland College of Art and Design while working on a collection that brings together her varied life experiences.
