Recent graduate of a Master of Fine Arts at the National Art School, Sydney, Laura Clay uses her practice to explore cultural duality and identity. A Mexican-American who grew up between the two countries, Clay has spent time researching the history of Mexico and the United States, along with the psychology of bicultural identity. “The exploration of shape and colour gradation creates a bridge over the waves of conflict between my American and Mexican cultures,” she says, “allowing a constant dialogue between organic versus geometric, chaos versus order and fiesta versus structure.”
