Working quickly to capture the ephemerality of her visual references, often her own memories and their associated feelings, Georgina Arnott sees her practice as a visual diaristic anthology. “Through my practice, I aim to explore my feelings of a connection with my surrounding landscapes and broader parts of nature,” she says. “My work is a self-reflective process which develops and changes over time as I continue to understand my thoughts, feelings and the landscape itself. In this way, my practice uses a diaristic methodology that produces time stamps of what I perceived in any one moment.” Recently graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Arnott admits that she is still in the process of learning. “I feel a connection to the Australian landscape,” she says. “But there is a fine line between belonging and claiming. I have made a lot of mistakes dancing on that line.”
