Working intuitively, Kathy Liu embraces the uncertainty of the unknown, often commencing her process with provisional abstract painting to avoid a premeditated concept. While narrative begins to solidify through the act of painting, Liu leaves the work’s final realisation in the hands of the viewer. “The viewers get to engage in the active and subjective nature of seeing,” she says. “My paintings do not try to present answers, but rather, ask questions.”
