The Art Edit team takes a look inside the studio.

Based in rural NSW, Janno McLaughlin uses colour and an unwavering sense of humour to sow hope, bravery and resilience within her work. Janno uses paint, thread and richly associative metaphors to portray vulnerable or fragile subjects. Her exhibition Making Nonsense, opens 27 April at fortyfivedownstairs, Melbourne.

“My studio is a magical space nestled among rambling gardens and shade trees in a reimagined second world war army depot in Scone, NSW. My latest body of work is in direct response to 2020, starting off with the tragic devastation of bushfires and climate change on our fragile country, and as the year progressed, the upside down, topsy turvy world of Covid-19.”
