Studio Visit: Clementine Maconachie

THE ART EDIT TEAM TAKES A LOOK INSIDE THE STUDIO

CLEMENTINE MACONACHIE IS A SYDNEY BASED SCULPTOR WORKING PREDOMINANTLY IN STEEL AND HEBLE. THROUGH HER WORK, CLEMENTINE FINDS BEAUTY AND SOFTNESS IN INDUSTRIAL MATERIALS, WHICH SHE ABSTRACTS INTO ORGANIC, OFTEN HUMAN, FORMS.

/ My studio is a disused loading dock. A large roller door opens up to let in light and air, and people walk by to pop their head in and see what I am making. In my studio you will find a welder, grinder, heble saw, chisels, drill bits and spray paint. And a bit of 1990s hip hop. My studio is a space of my own, to create and play, a place where I can weld, carve stone and make lots of noise and a big mess. /
