Fascinated by the processes of deconstruction, artist Lex Palmer Bull translates physical distances and journeys. Lex’s fascination with architecture, structure and sculpture has driven her practice. Inscribed lines and geometries curate her canvas and translate the rugged sea, sand and sky of the coastal region of South Gippsland and the undulating landscapes of Northern Tasmania into romantic abstractions.
“A common thread in my work,” tells Lex, “is the iterative line that creates tension and construction (practical and metaphoric) within the abstracted geometries, suggesting structural islands and architectural forms.”
Lex’s work is a beautiful communication of the uncertainty and tension between space and place.
