Currently in her final year of a Bachelor of Fine Art at the National Art School, Sydney, Georgina de Manning has a practice spanning airbrushing, painting and video art. Her works often draw inspiration from poetry and classical literature in order to uncover the historical ties between painting and the written word. “The legacy, and destruction, of the western canon finds its home in my faux bookshelves,” she says. In this piece, the artist has merged two worlds, the literary and scientific, to highlight arbitrary measurements of judgement.
