Combining both representation and abstraction Across The Lagoon is a successful encapsulation of movement. Clearly confident, bold and loose mark making aids in creating a composition that dances before the eye. Suggestions of foliage and a water’s edge (both continuing out of the picture plane) indicate an immensity that is inherent in the Australian landscape. This artwork would position well in many locations, be it a minimal dining room or an eclectic commercial space.

This painterly piece has an almost illustrative quality that captures the essence of place, as this style of plein air is best known for. It conveys a softness and a lovely portrayal of light. I can see Horseshoe Lagoon in a minimalist designed interior which is slick and sophisticated, where the artwork will be a highlight or a laid back luxury to the usual monochromatic style of minimalism.
