Horseshoe Lagoon. Acrylic on cotton canvas, mountain ash frame, 126.5 x 126.5cm.

ALEX THOM

Thomgaller, Byron Bay

Combining both representation and abstraction Across The Lagoon is a successful encapsulation of movement. Clearly confident, bold and loose mark making aids in creating a composition that dances before the eye. Suggestions of foliage and a water’s edge (both continuing out of the picture plane) indicate an immensity that is inherent in the Australian landscape. This artwork would position well in many locations, be it a minimal dining room or an eclectic commercial space.

SALLI COPPIN

Margaret River Gallery, Margaret River

This painterly piece has an almost illustrative quality that captures the essence of place, as this style of plein air is best known for. It conveys a softness and a lovely portrayal of light. Whilst it is seemingly simple, it continues to grasp the eye with its use of colour, depth and line. This artwork is perfect for the lover of Australian nature.

NADINE WAGNER

Wagner Contemporary, Sydney

This piece is an engaging and dynamic form of expression with a minimal palette. Fresh and dazzling imagery of landscape is rendered with broad and delicate mark making, where light screams through with luminosity. The light in this work is the key to its strength. I can see Horseshoe Lagoon in a minimalist designed interior which is slick and sophisticated, where the artwork will be a highlight or a laid back luxury to the usual monochromatic style of minimalism.
