Designer’s Brief: Jennifer Baird

Sydney-based interior designer Brett Mickan creates sophisticated and achievable looks for these four works of art.

I love the organic hand crafted imperfection of a lino print, which is enhanced by Baird’s masterful play of positive and negative space. I would hang these works together as part of a glamorous master bedroom suite. Framed in a simple black shadow-line frame, on a wall upholstered in a natural linen to add a warm texture. For luxury underfoot, a plush mauve wool carpet, then the classic look of a four poster bed with the distinctly contemporary lines of the Maxalto Alcova bed. Two large Simple Dresser side tables from Fanuli in a beautiful neutral lacquer and a pair of Christopher Spitzmiller Whittaker Table Lamps in brass and lilac. The graphic lines of the Isanka Chair with the back upholstered in a dark leather and the front upholstered in the opulent Tiger Mountain gold velvet from Dedar. The organic Melt Chandelier by Tom Dixon in gold and the classic lines of full drapes in Bacchus from Lewis and Wood; a fabric that conjures up the beauty of Elizabethan wallpaper in a simple graphic form. A luxurious suite where graphic lines reflect the past and bathes you in its opulent finishes as you recline and gaze out the window.
