Jac Clark, Jeffery. Acrylic on board, 150 x 160cm.
BRETT MICKAN
This work calls to be noticed, so place it centrally in a large contemporary living space. White walls with a large custom silk, wool and thistle rug in a deep terracotta colour would suit this work perfectly. Add a collection of iconic mid-century upholstered pieces combined with a plush Morrosso sofa, a Christopher Boots crystal chandelier and a bronze sculpture on a marble plinth. Finally, add more marble in the large organic shaped cocktail table and you have a glamorous hangout for art minded peeps.
SUZANNE GORMAN
Jac Clark is known for her large, bold works and this peice is no exception. In a reduced palette of sepia tones and an intricate level of detail, this work would be incredibly hypnotic in a commercial restaurant with moody low lighting, sandblasted leather benches, rubbed brass fittings and rustic oiled floorboards. There is a luminescence to it which is engaging, drawing the viewer in. The subject’s eyes are expressive and warm, likely enhancing a feeling of welcome and comfort, making the experience more enjoyable.

Jeffery! I’m intrigued! What a face, what a portrait! Jeffery obviously has a story to tell and has seen a day or two of life’s better moments. This portrait is stunningly executed and makes me want to find out more about the artist, as well as the subject Jeffrey. I would hang this portrait in a location where people linger, such as a dining room. This would be stunning over a timber dining table, in a minimal room with not a lot of colour. This face would provide hours of speculation and conversation.
