Felicia’s bold combination of colour and texture bursts off the canvas. This work doesn’t require any more vibrancy in the room to show to its best advantage. I would hang it in a room with bottle-green walls and charcoal-stained wood floors; a plush rug in a colour blend of taupe and acid yellow; a warm grey velvet sofa; and arm chairs in a dark green chenille. To contrast the femininity of the subject, I would include steel coffee and side tables in a matt grey powder coat. In order to keep the colour focus at eye level I would add a vintage Picasso-esque white plaster chandelier.

A joyous and uplifting painting, with fresh crisp colours and movement created through the arching stems. Pink Song is asking to be hung in a sunny reading conservatory where it can be enjoyed while savouring a cup of tea with friends. I imagine the room to be comfortable and bright, with an array of artfully mismatched textiles, layered on a cosy sofa with views to the garden.

KATHRYN ROBSON

Felicia’s study of flowers against a white-washed wall reminds me of a recent trip to Greece. I can imagine this work being translated into a large-scale mural on the outside of a building. It would be equally beautiful hung in a simple, feminine dressing room with soft linens and velvets to pick up on the pink tones in this painting.
