Steph Bolt splits her life between the Mornington Peninsula near Melbourne and the Island of Skopelos in Greece. She grew up on the South Coast of New South Wales, studying Fine Art in Wollongong, Graphic Design in Canberra and completed her Master of Fine Art in Melbourne at RMIT. She has travelled extensively, documenting daily life as she goes, which has formed the foundation of her practice. Strong chromas seduce her and she is fascinated by the lure of colour, the environment it creates, and the joy it brings her.
She always works in series and often has several different projects unfolding simultaneously. In her most recent series of works, she looks at the commonality of symbols and colours found on ferry boats from opposite ends of the world. In other projects she is using cyanotypes, a UV light sensitive photographic process to depict people and objects found in everyday life in Greece.
