Living and working by the coast and harbour is the chief inspiration for Nick Hollo’s work as an architect, urban designer, and artist. Using oil pastels enabled him to quickly capture the light, movement and ambience of places. This was his way of switching off, but it soon led him to probe deeper, to read the land and express what is precious and in need of protection. Nick has exhibited annually at Gallery East, Clovelly since 2000. He has also exhibited at the Historic Houses Trust Members’ Lounge. Nick taught at the Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria and is lecturing in Sustainable Architecture at Sydney University. He is the author of “Warm House Cool House” published by UNSW Press Choice Books.
