Completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Western Sydney, Nepean in 1998 marked the beginning of Melony Kara Smirniotis’s art career. Post University studies, teaching, exhibiting and curating have been her main focuses. Smirniotis’s surroundings constantly influence her technique and choice of materials while texture and colour, light and movement remain constant sources of inspiration. From her home in North Epping she aspires to create work that evokes emotion and warms the soul, celebrating natural surroundings. Recent exhibitions include Outliers Group show 2019 at The Shop Gallery Glebe and Divergence group show 2019 at The Balmain Watch house Balmain.
