Christophe Domergue is a multidisciplinary artist and recent Master of Art graduate from UNSW Art and Design and finalist in the Blacktown City Art Prize 2017. His most recent body of work consists of ‘peelings’. This term captures the physical process of peeling a surface and the materiality of the artwork. In creating peelings there is the element of surprise. The surprise is what the peeling lifts and leaves behind. Although Domergue generates the conditions through which these works are made possible, what is revealed cannot be fully controlled.
