Based in Sydney, Anna-Carien Goosen is a figurative artist with a passion for filling sketchbooks with drawings of strangers. She loves the messy alchemy of oil paint, and observing the circus we call society. Her work is a combination of realism and absurdity, as Anna-Carien believes that this best portrays the layered and complex world around her. Anna-Carien has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Australia, South Africa and abroad. She is the recipient of the 2019 Naracoorte National Art prize and the 2017 South African Portrait Society’s Living Portrait Master Competition.
