Ann Snell has worked as an art professional since graduating from National Art School in Sydney in 2000. Continuing her sculpture practice in residency at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop, on return to Australia she opened Ann Snell Gallery in Surry Hills, Sydney.
Her role as a gallery director with an interest in contemporary Aboriginal art had her engage and work with Indigenous communities all over Australia. Consequently, she became an advocate for Indigenous art in Sydney. Ann Snell Gallery was committed to exhibiting a diverse curated collection of Indigenous art, which became highly sought after internationally and locally. She was a foundation member of the Indigenous Art Code a system to preserve and promote ethical trading in Indigenous art.
