Description
Only Us investigates the liminal space between narcissism and self-loathing – a fragile landscape that shapes humanity with its relentless ability to create distance between the perceived and created self. The hand silvered glass is reminiscent of an 19th century technique, made via a process involving the mixing of photographic silver nitrate and other various chemistries. These far from perfect “mirrors” reflect and disillusion both the physical and mental space of their admirers – reminding each of us of our own fragile dance with confidence and criticism. This series aims to provide the viewer, and artist alike, space to consider the value of (self)image in our visually saturated culture.
