My latest body of paintings were created during recent isolation.
To me isolation in its simplest form can be an act of self indulgence and by all means never something I would associate with any level of anxiety. Quite the opposite in fact. As many others could relate to no doubt.
I have always enjoyed a level of self isolation to a degree & most recently have found the more forced version the perfect opportunity to better develop and refine my practice as an artist by means of style and also technique.
Producing art is the perfect distraction for me personally from the realities outside of my immediate world, it always has been. I find it both therapeutic & really just a problem solving exercise. It’s a puzzle where I already know the outcome and endeavour to get their as quickly as possible in order to move on to the next piece. There’s no deep significance to the work I create. I’m simply going along for the ride. Freedom at it’s finest.
