The wallpaper in this painting is a quote from French writer, poet Antoine de Saint-Exupery (1900-44) and says “Love does not consist of looking at each other but rather in together, looking in the same direction.”
Female elements surround me and are primary in my paintings. I have a passion for the female form, female artists, authors, for women in history whom I admire and for male artists whose works have a female perspective.
Among many female heroines of mine are Margaret Olley; Cressida Campbell; Anna Eggert; Georgia O’Keefe; Frida Kahlo; Virginia Woolf; Vita Sackville-West and Kikki of Montparnasse.
You will find references to all of these and to many more women in these works, many of which are encompassed in interior paintings of my Paddington terrace house.
Each work tells a story and many pay homage to women who have advanced the cause for women’s equality.
