During the lockdown in Sydney due to the covid 19 pandemic, Dix found solace and balance from a daily ritual of walking at dawn in her local park. She would often be leaving her home in the dark and revelled in the empty streets and the night lights of the city as the dawn light arrived. In this liminal space between night and day Dix felt like she was sneaking about and able to see the world unblemished by the messy reality which was 2020.
This oil painting evokes the sense of delight Dix found in this early morning space. A space which allowed her to see the world more clearly and which she found illuminating.
